is a comic that features an inner and outer world. The inner world is a race of artificially intelligent robots that are nearly molecular in size. These robots, or “Miotics”, are based loosely on insects and each have their own hopes and fears, leaders who are both righteously good or despicably evil and very few who realize there is a world beyond their own. Originally an experiment designed to make a demented human scientist nearly immortal, many of these Miotics instinctively perform healing functions on their host—others just vie for power; sometimes damaging the host.
The outer world is centred on Pam Demonium, a young woman who had her life altered when she was unknowingly infected with Miotics as a small girl. The different factions within her body have made Pam grow up differently than most girls. Plagued with “fits” that occur whenever her Miotics are fighting, she has never been able to hold down a job—never mind any real relationships. At the same time, she heals incredibly quickly, is stronger than most and possesses cat-like agility.
In the first few issues of Red Punch, readers will witness a power struggle among the Miotics that threatens to both destroy their world and create a new form of life. These issues will also follow Pam as she starts as a thug, progresses into a life filled with fear and comes out the other side with a renewed sense of morality and a purpose in life greater than her own. Along the way, we hope to take the reader on a ride that is sometimes dark, often violent, occasionally funny and always vibrant with rich colour.
